General Information
ASB provides an engaging learning environment with state-of-the-art facilities, technology, and innovative educational practices.
The American School of Ben Guerir (ASB) was founded in 2019 as the result of a partnership of the American School of Tangier and UM6P. The American School of Ben Guerir is a branch of the American School of Tangier, and as such operates under the Bilateral Treaty between the United States and Morocco regulating American educational institutions operating in Morocco.
ASB currently offers an American education to students in preschool through high school to nearly 300 students of a variety of backgrounds and nationalities. The campus of the American School of Ben Guerir has two main buildings, the Lower School which houses the Preschool and the Elementary School, and the Upper School, which houses the Middle School and the High School. The grade levels are set according to the American school system and grade placements are set according to student proficiency and age, as determined by ASB leadership.
ASB's pedagogical approach is grounded in the rubric of Common Core standards, with a high emphasis on English fluency. ASB’s academic program features core subjects of language arts, mathematics, science and history/social studies. Additionally, ASB offers foreign languages, computer science, physical education and arts and music. In its high school ASB offers Advanced Placement (AP) classes, which are university level classes with external testing, to eligible students under agreement with the College Board of the United States.
Extracurricular and cocurricular activities enrich the ASB educational experience. ASB students participate in field trips that complement their educational program, engage in sports activities, and represent the school at events including academic competitions and sports tournaments. Additionally, ASB offers ExtraC’s an afternoon program featuring fun activities for its elementary and upper school students.
